Medical Emergencies: Heart Attack

Heart disease is the most common cause of death in Ireland.
6,000 people have heart attacks in Ireland each year but many of these can be prevented.
Irish women are 7 times more likely to die from cardiovascular/heart disease than from breast cancer.
Up to 80% of all heart disease is preventable through lifestyle change and modifying the risk factors associated with heart disease.

In this microlearning course we will look at:

  • How to recognise a heart attack
  • Difference between heart attack and angina
  • What to do in the event of a heart attack
  • Heart attacks in women
  • Measures which can be taken to avoid heart attacks

15-20 mins

Who should do this course?

  • Anyone who may need to gain an understanding of heart attacks.
  • Anyone working around people.

How does it work?

You complete a single module.  All participants must take part in an assessment consisting of 5 multiple choice questions. A grade of 80% is required in order to pass the assessment. If you don’t pass, then there is no need to worry as you can re-take the course as many times as you need.
